"Happenings" first emerged in the late 1950's and became popular with the Pop Art movement. A Happening is usually a performance piece that only happens once. Therefore...what you the viewer has had the privilege of viewing and being a part of...is the Happening.

The "Melon Happening Series" is a Happening that I had in my mother's kitchen when I was trying to cut open a watermelon. My accident looked so beautiful...I decided to not only paint it, but re-inact it again with a honey dew and a cantaloupe.
